Call for Art: You Are Here

CALL FOR ART: You Are Here

Where do you live? Where are you from? Where do you dream? How do you find your way? What takes you in and out of a place? Where are your borders? Who gets to make the map? And who gets left out? Do maps lie?

Exploded View, a dynamic group of women artists and writers working together to create original performance and exhibitions, is curating its third community art show at the Great Falls Discovery Center in Turners Falls, Mass., during the months of January and February 2020.

Artists living in Western Massachusetts and Southern Vermont or New Hampshire are invited to submit artwork on, about, or related to the theme: You Are Here. Open to all media.

Email up to three jpegs, with a brief description of each, including title, dimensions and materials, along with your name, address, and phone number to explodedviewma@gmail.com by December 15, 2019 to be juried into the show.

A variety of programs on this theme are being planned to occur in the space between January 5 and February 27, including an open mic and several workshops.

Drop off for accepted work will be Saturday, January 4 (snow date, Sunday, January 5), with a reception and performance by Exploded View on Sunday, January 12. Artists are asked to make a small donation at drop-off time of $5 to help with reception costs, but there are no submission fees for this show.

This program is supported in part by a grant from the Montague Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council.
