Exploded View Announces Call for Art 


Exploded View is curating a community art exhibit in November 2021 at the Great Falls Discovery Center in Turners Falls, MA. The theme of the show is Repair. Exploded View is a poetry-performance-art collaboration of local artists and writers, and their Call for Art asks fellow artists to consider the following:

In this second pandemic year, it feels essential to perform maintenance and repair individually, and in community. Art work for this show may reflect on processes of mending, reconstruction, redemption, fixing, rebuilding, healing, and transformation. What strategies for individual and collective maintenance can be articulated by devoting ourselves to repair?

Two and three dimensional works will be considered for the show, as space allows. The exhibit in the Great Hall of the Discovery Center will run from November 6 to December 1, 2021. Associated programming during November is planned in connection with the exhibit, details to come in October. 

To apply, please send an email with image files (up to three submissions per artist) to  explodedviewma@gmail.com by October 25, 2021. Please include the physical dimensions of your work. A statement about how your work relates to the theme is highly desirable, but not required. Be sure to include your full name, address, and telephone number. 

Selected artists will be notified by October 30. If accepted, work will need to be dropped off on Thursday, November 4 from 10 a.m. to noon and picked up Wednesday, December 1 between 10 a.m. to noon. 

Multiple events are planned during the month of November, to encourage audiences to see the art, with pandemic safety protocols in mind, including refreshments outdoors under tents.

      Yes. There are three gallery events planned for Nov. 13th, 21st, and 28th, with outdoor light refreshments, from 1-3pm.
